WHO IS TO BLAME FOR THE LATEST BOMBING IN NETANYA?
Americans For a Safe Israel/AFSI puts the blame for the latest bombing in
Netanya squarely on the Israeli government. True, American and British
supervisors were put in charge of the six terrorists released from Ramallah
with Yasser Arafat. The agreement reached amongst the Israelis, Americans,
British, and Arafat called for the incarceration of the four murderers of
Tourism Minister Rechavam Ze’evi (Ghandi), and the containment of the other
two, including Ahmed Sadaat, chief of the Popular Front for the Liberation
of Palestine/PFLP.
According to various media reports, Sadaat had free access to telephone
communication from his “vacation” quarters. From there he was able to
mastermind the ghoulish suicide bombing in the crowded market place of
Netanya on May 18. The bomber, disguised in an IDF uniform, took the lives
of three Israelis, one of who, Arkadi Weiselman, had escaped with his life
during the Passover massacre at the Park hotel in Netanya, only to become a
victim this time. Twenty-one of the fifty family shoppers wounded in the
attack are still in the hospital, many in very serious condition, like the
six-year-old girl whose body is filled with shrapnel wounds.
Herbert Zweibon, Chairman of AFSI, maintains that the Israeli government
was in charge of the siege in Ramallah. Zweibon states, “Despite pressure
from the U.S. and the EU, it is the responsibility of the Israelis to deal
with the terrorists of the PFLP, Hamas, and Arafat’s army. Delegating this
responsibility to others is sheer foolishness.” AFSI’s chairman maintains,
“The same is true for the 13 terrorists who were released from the Church of
the Nativity. Sending them to vacations in Cyprus, only to find them
sanctuaries in various countries, is ludicrous. Israel’s debate should be
where, when, and how to eliminate the killers - not to enable them to
continue with their murderous work.”
Helen Freedman, AFSI’s executive director, continues, “The horror of the
Netanya attack illustrates once again how useless an international force
would be on Israeli soil. The fact that the NYPD has sent a delegation to
Israel to learn how to cope with the terrorism that now threatens America,
attests to the truth that only the Israelis can cope with their internal
terrorism problems. We strongly suggest an end to ludicrous and dangerous
“solutions” that continue to cause the deaths of innocent Israelis.”
